The date has been set, the venue booked and planning has begun to make Procurement Day 2014 the best ever. A joint committee of construction, design and procurement professionals are meeting regularly to review the successes and initiatives of the Procurement Project, of which Procurement Day is just one. Priority is now turning to planning Procurement Day, 2014. The event will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Kingsbridge Conference Centre. The Construction Design Alliance of Ontario (CDAO) and all of its members are proud to continue on as founding sponsors of this great event. "Every year, momentum continues to grow, barriers continue to fall, communication continues to expand and understanding continues to be fostered among the construction, design, buyer and owner communities," says CDAO Chair Clive Thurston. "This day is one of a kind. There is nothing like it anywhere that brings some many people together to discuss key issues influencing procurement of construction services." The 2014 committee will be co-chaired by Tom Vivian of the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) and Martha George, President of the Grand Valley Construction Association. Michael Gerrior, with the Region of York, will serve as the Ontario Public Buyers' Association liaison. The committee is currently reviewing the findings of the past two events to help in the development of a worthwhile and interactive session in October. (CLICK HERE to read the 2013 Procurement Day report. The full report and executive summary from Procurement Day 2012 can also be downloaded here.) The committee will also be surveying past participants for feedback and ideas on what they would like to see discussed during the day-long workshop. The goal, as is the purpose of the Procurement Project, is to facilitate candid discussion of risk issues being faced by all sides of the procurement equation and seek common ground while identifying mutually satisfactory ways to address the noted concerns.
